Scott R. Gibbs, M.D. Founder & CEO Neurosurgeon
Dr. Gibbs is the founder of the Brain and NeuroSpine Clinic and is also the Director of Southeast Missouri Hospital's Brain and Spine Center, both located in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Dr. Gibbs earned a Bachelor and Master of Arts Degree in Biological Science from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1985 and 1989, respectively. He received his medical degree from the University of Missouri School of Medicine in 1991. Dr. Gibbs completed his internship in General Surgery in 1992 and a residency in Neurosurgery in 1997, both at University Hospital and Clinics in Columbia, Missouri. He received his Board Certification from The American Board of Neurological Surgery in 2002. Dr. Gibbs enjoys writing and is also the Editor-in-Chief of the Year Book of Neurology and Neurosurgery. He is also a noted author and public speaker. Dr. Gibbs was awarded the Samuel P.W. Black Prize for Excellence in Neurosurgery in 1991. In his spare time, Dr. Gibbs and his wife Barbie enjoy spending
time with their eight children. |

Larry Clark, Ph.D. Professor Southeast Missouri State University
Larry Clark spent most of his childhood in Kansas City, Missouri. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry at Carnegie-Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He did graduate work in Child Psychology at the University of Minnesota where he earned a Doctor of Philosophy in 1979.
Dr. Clark has been on the faculty at
Southeast Missouri State University since 1977. He has taught
courses in introductory psychology, child development, adult
development, gender roles and relations, and human sexuality. He
served as the Director of the Honors Program at the University from 1990
- 2004.

Larry H. Jackson International Interpreter
Larry Havelock Jackson was born in Panama of an American father and a Panamanian mother; hence his American name and nationality. He is bilingual in English and Spanish and later learned French, Italian, German and Portuguese. He spent his early childhood in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and first enlisted in the Army Corps at 17. He has both a BA and an MA in French and completed course requirements for his PhD in Romance Philolgy at the Universidad Complutense in Madrid, Spain.
He served in the USAF in WWII, Korea and Vietnam, retiring from the Air Force after 22 years of active service. He lived for 20 years in Europe, ten of them in Spain, working primarily as a technical translator for private industry and as a conference interpreter for both the UN and the former EEC. He retired from interpreting in 1996 and now lives with his wife Jane in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
He has three children,
eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. His principal
interests are classical music (especially opera), travel, reading,

Randy McWilson Educator
Transplanted from the left coast to the Heartland of America, Randy McWilson is honored to serve on the board for The International Brain Foundation. Born in Santa Clara, California in 1968, Mr. McWilson moved to the Midwest in 1980, his family settling in Jackson, Missouri.
After completing high school in Jackson in 1986, he attended Southeast Missouri State University located in Cape Girardeau. Originally studying for a degree in Electrical Engineering, his heart was soon captivated by the communications department, and in December of 1991 received his BA in Broadcasting, with a minor in Mathematics. During his college career, Mr. McWilson was a member of the SEMO Debate Team, as well as being a regular at the campus Baptist Student Union.
Upon completion of his university degree, Mr. McWilson initially took a position inn retail management, which he enjoyed greatly because of the contact it provided with the public, and the opportunity to work with young people.
One of the truly great benefits of his time in retail was brought to fruition in August of 1993, when he married Amanda Pruitt, once a fellow employee. They have two daughters, Kryston and Ashton, and a newborn son, Chase.
In the mid 1990s, McWilson started Moving Images Video Productions in Jackson. In the Spring of 2000, Mr. McWilson accepted a position with Cape Girardeau Public Schools, as the Television Broadcasting instructor at the Cape Girardeau Career & Technology Center. Teaching has been a union of two of his passions, video production, and inspiring young people to utilize their talents. His students have progressed with many honors and awards in the field, competing in numerous state-level and even national competitions.
Mr. McWilson became associated with Dr. Gibbs even before The International Brain Foundation was formed, and was impressed by the neurosurgeons creativity, his desire to educate, and his genuine love for people. Mr. McWilson currently resides in Jackson, Missouri with his wife and three children, and enjoys all-things-computers, reading, Bible studies, swimming, and snow skiing.

Anne Owen Educator
Anne Owen was born in Brooklyn, New York but spent most of her childhood in Cumberland, Maryland. She began her college education at Hanover College in Hanover, Indiana and completed her bachelors degree in Elementary Education from the University of Kentucky. After teaching for several years in Shelbyville, Kentucky Anne
stayed home to care for her three children. She returned to
teaching after ten years and taught in various positions in the Cape
Public Schools. She is currently a 3rd grade teacher at Clippard
Elementary School where she specializes in teaching science. She
received a master's degree from Southeast Missouri State University in
1995. |

Kevin A. Vaught, M.D. Neurosurgeon
Dr. Vaught joined the Brain and NeuroSpine Clinic and the medical staff at Southeast Missouri Hospital upon his arrival in Cape Girardeau, Missouri in 2003. Dr. Vaught earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Houston in 1989. He received his medical degree in 1993 from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. Dr. Vaught completed an internship at the University of Tennessee and a Neurosurgery residency at the University of Tennessee, Semmes-Murphy Clinic. Prior to coming to Cape Girardeau, Dr. Vaught practiced in Johnson City, Tennessee. Dr. Vaught is a noted public speaker who has given presentations on numerous neurological topics. Dr. Vaught, and his wife Christy, live in Cape Girardeau with their two sons, Justin and Jake.

Courtney B. Verhines Director of Development The International Brain Foundation
Courtney Bollinger Verhines grew up in a small community in Southeast Missouri. She graduated from Advance High School in 1994 and attended the University of Missouri-Columbia where she graduated with Cum Laude honors in 1998 with a double major in History and Secondary Education and a minor in English. In 1997 Verhines spent a semester abroad studying at Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine in London, England.
After graduation, Verhines lived in Chicago, Illinois where she worked at a real estate development and investment company. In 2000 she returned to Columbia, Missouri and taught high school history for two years at Moberly High School and in 2002 taught middle school history at Arcadia Valley Middle School.
In 2003 Verhines returned to Southeast Missouri and accepted the position as Director of Development for The International Brain Foundation. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Southeast Alumni Chapter of the University of Missouri-Columbia, a member of the Southeast Missouri Arts Council, and a member of the Missouri State Teachers Association.
Verhines and her husband Cliff, an attorney, live in Cape Girardeau. They enjoy traveling, community involvement, and spending time with with their black Labrador, Chase.
