OUR PROGRAMS

The International Brain Foundation is committed to promoting awareness and appreciation of human brain functions and fostering new discoveries for treating brain disorders.

To these ends we are implementing a multilevel brain education and awareness campaign incorporating elements such as: educational curricula, brain symposia, summer camps, and international neurological publicity. By unifying the resources of neurological foundations and organizations, along with medical corporations and neurological research scientists, The International Brain Foundation seeks to bring HOPE to those suffering with and affected by brain maladies.

April 2004 marked the First Annual Brain Awareness Month for Southeast Missouri.  The International Brain Foundation hosted a month full of "brainy" activities that attracted over 1900 people, both young and young at heart.  With the support of local businesses the foundation was able to host three free-to-the-public presentations that ranged in topics from the amazing brain, hope, and creativity and the brain.  These presentations drew a crowd of 400 from the area.  Schools had a chance to schedule a "house call" with Dr. Gibbs.  Dr. Gibbs visited six schools and reached 1,500+ students with his message of safety, healthy living, and good choices.  Other activities during the month included a poster and writing contest, television and radio broadcasts, newspaper articles and the design of the official poster and t-shirt.  With the tremendous results of 2004, Brain Awareness Month will be a lasting tradition in Southeast Missouri.

Two of the primary keys to a successful awareness campaign are: a readily-identifiable icon, and consistent media attention.  The International Brain Foundation has demonstrated both with the creation of the Brain Balloon.  Dubbed "The World's Largest Brain," the Brain Balloon is a 9-story symbol that has a proven media track record.  The Brain Balloon serves as a larger-than-life reminder of the importance of the human brain.
